A Big Week of Game Announcements
Marvel's Wolverine

If you’ve been waiting for a ton of game updates, this issue has you covered. Summer Game Fest took place last week, along with roughly a dozen other virtual events. We’ve got all the biggest announcements, plus all the latest news. Let’s go!

Sony State of Play

Sony kicked off the week with their June State of Play. The show featured some known titles (Wolverine) as well as some surprises (God of War Laufey). You can check out everything announced, but here are a few of our favorites:

Marvel’s Wolverine

Sony said they would focus on the upcoming superhero game, and they sure did with a seven-minute preview. Marvel’s Wolverine launches September 15.

God of War Laufey

In the opening moments of the 2018 God of War game, you play as Kratos, laying your dead wife to rest. However, for her, that was just the beginning. God of War Laufey takes it from there.

Bancho The Chef

The origin story of the chef from Dave the Diver.

Stuntman: Hollywood

Drive iconic cars from pop culture including Kitt from Knight Rider, the Delorian from Back to the Future and more.

A few other trailers worth checking out include Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, Until Dawn 2, and Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve.

Summer Game Fest

Summer Game Fest provided updates and reveals for many games. We compiled trailers of virtually everything announced at Summer Game Fest, but here are a few of the highlights:

Final Fantasy VII Revelation

The third and final game in the Final Fantasy 7 remake series. Of note, this one is not a timed PlayStation exclusive, and it is coming to all platforms in the spring of 2027.

Control Resonant

More details on the upcoming sequel to Control, including a release date of September 24.

The Wolf Among Us 2

Another game that has been in development seemingly forever has a new trailer and an anticipated launch date of 2027. Oh, and the original Wolf Among Us game is getting a remake that will be out later this year.

Resident Evil Veronica

A remake of Code Veronica from the popular Resident Evil series. The game is scheduled to launch sometime in 2027.

Xbox Games Showcase

With Asha Sharma as the new head for Xbox, many were wondering what their showcase would offer in the way of exclusivity, games and more.

Microsoft decided to reverse their recent trend of releasing games on the PlayStation, with some newer games announced as Xbox exclusives. “We want people to choose XBOX because of great games and experiences,” Sharma wrote on Twitter. “That also means giving you something that was made for XBOX. Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will be XBOX console exclusives!”

Here are some of the biggest announcements from the Xbox event:

Gears of War: E-Day

The latest Gears of War game is an Xbox (and PC) exclusive, and launches October 6.

Persona 6

Probably one of the most anticipated announcements of the week, even though it is just a teaser trailer. Seeing it on the Xbox stage was somewhat unexpected.

Crazy Taxi: World Tour

Sega announced they were working on a new Crazy Taxi game, and it will launch in 2027.

Fable

After being pushed back until 2027, Fable has an official release date: February 23.
