Over 335,000 people descended on Cologne, Germany last week for Gamescom, one of the biggest gaming conventions of the year. The event produced a ton of news as publishers were anxious to show off their latest titles. We have all the top headlines and trailers from the event. Let’s go!

Gamescom Week Part 1: The Trailers

Gamescom’s Opening Night Live provided a number of new game announcements and details. Here are a few of the biggest trailers from the event:

Hollow Knight: Silksong finally has a release date

A new trailer for one of the most anticipated indie games was shown, and it included a release date. Hollow Knight:Silksong arrives on console and PC Sept. 4.

Lords of the Fallen 2

The sequel to the most recent Lords of the Fallen remake promises to be more brutal and bloody than its predecessors. It is slated for a 2026 release.

Black Myth: Zhong Kui

Publisher Game Science announced a new game in the popular Black Myth series. Black Myth: Zhong Kui is still in early development, and no release information is yet available.

Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight

Batman returns in Lego form. Follow a young Bruce Wayne as he becomes the legendary superhero. Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is scheduled to release in 2026. 

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7

The latest yearly installment in the Call of Duty franchise is a sequel to the 2012 release Black Ops 2. From the looks of the trailer above, if you like the Scarecrow parts of the Batman Arkham games, you will love Black Ops 7. Look for it later this year.

Apart from new game trailers, there were plenty of game news and release dates revealed during Gamescom. You can check out everything announced, but here are some of the biggest stories:

Kirby Air Riders

📈 Thanks to tariffs, the price of all PlayStation 5 consoles went up by $50 last week in the U.S. 

⚖️ With Louisiana’s Attorney General asserting they are a “breeding ground for sex predators,” Roblox changed its policies on romantic and sexual content.

🏆 The Pokémon World Championships took place last week. Check out everything announced, including Pokémon Champions replacing Scarlet and Violet at the 2026 Championship. 

🗾 The setting for the next Forza Horizon game may have leaked thanks to an Australian car company’s Instagram post. Spoiler: it’s Japan.  

🖥️ Nintendo held a Direct press conference to show off Kirby Air Riders, which releases on Nov. 20. 

🪟 The Asus ROG Xbox Ally handheld console will run a stripped down version of Windows and launch on Oct. 16. Pricing for the device is still not available. 

👋🏼 Bungie CEO Pete Parsons announced that he is leaving after nearly a decade at the company. 

🔫 The Division 2 announced a new “survival extraction experience” called Survivors, which is coming in 2026

📉 Losses for board game maker CMON could reach $8 million for the first half of 2025, almost three times its overall profit from the last ten years. 

🔺 RPG Triangle Strategy unexpectedly released on the PlayStation and Xbox after only being available on PC and Switch. 

♨️ Steam now defaults to language-specific review scores on its platform to provide “a better indication of user sentiment.

🔫 Halo is officially coming to the PlayStation…in the form of Helldivers 2 content. 

🤖 A new survey says that 87% of game developers are using AI agents in their workflow. 

🎃 Bandai Namco announced a remastered version of Tales of Xillia, which arrives on October 31.
