Nintendo officially announced the Switch 2 last week. While details are thin for now, at least we got our first look at their new console. Find out more, along with all the latest news of the week. Let’s go!

Nintendo announces the Switch 2

Nintendo finally officially announced the Switch 2 in the above video last week. The new hardware is scheduled to release this year, although no official date was provided. Nintendo did say they would hold a Switch 2 Direct presentation on April 2 to discuss more details on the system. 

While the video did not say a lot about the new system, it did provide some updates. Here are the highlights:

The Switch 2 looks like a newer, shiner version of Nintendo’s original Switch hardware, with some minor adjustments. Until the actual system cost and specifications are revealed, it’s hard to say what will most differentiate this console from the original. Are you excited for the Switch 2? D.I.C.E. Award nominees announced

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences announced their nominations for the 28th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards, one of the few yearly game awards voted on by the people who make games. 

Headlining the nominees are Astro Bot, Helldivers 2, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which are each finalists in six categories. Balatro and Senua's Saga: Hellblade II aren’t far behind with five nominations. 

The winners are announced Feb. 13, and we will have the entire list that following Monday. You can check out the full list of games nominated for each category, but here are the finalists for Game of the Year:

  • Black Myth: Wukong
  • Helldivers 2
  • Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
