LittleBigPlanet 3’s servers get sacked
Plus Nintendo’s Indie World event and more on the Fallout Series.
Need a break from binging the Fallout series? We have the latest from Nintendo, some bad news for LIttleBigPlanet fans and, yes, more on Fallout. That plus much more. Let’s go!
Nintendo’s spring Indie World event
Nintendo held their spring Indie World Showcase last week, and you can view it in its entirety above. One of the common themes among the games announced or shown was animals. So here are our favorite critter games from the show (sorry SteamWorld Heist).
Duck Detective: The Secret Salami
Cat Quest III
Another Crab’s Treasure
TMNT: Splintered Fate
Little Kitty, Big City

LittleBigPlanet 3 gets (un)served
In January, Sony took LittleBigPlanet 3 servers offline while they investigated a number of issues. Last week came the announcement that Sackboy officially got the sack, as Sony confirmed the servers are officially shut down “indefinitely.” From the PlayStation support page:
Due to ongoing technical issues which resulted in the LittleBigPlanet 3 servers for PS4 being taken offline temporarily in January 2024, the decision has been made to keep the servers offline indefinitely. All online services including access to other players' creations for LittleBigPlanet 3 are no longer available. User generated content (UGC) stored locally on your PS4 will remain available. Any new UGC you create can be played on your PS4 but not shared. Offline features such as the campaign will remain playable.
What this means is hundreds of thousands of levels for the game are lost with very little warning. Unless a user has a player-created level downloaded on their machine, they will no longer be able to access it. A community manager for the game expressed their sadness over the event on X, and their responses were filled with other disheartened comments.
More Fallout from the series
The Fallout show has spiked interest in the game series. Every game has seen huge jumps in players since the show premiered. Fallout 76 has broken its concurrent player record five times in the past week. Bethesda says Fallout 5 is coming, after the studio finishes Elder Scrolls 6. At the rate they produce games, that might take a while so the current library will have to suffice. That’s okay with Bethesda, as Fallout 4 was the best selling game in Europe last week, and 3 other Fallout games made the top 10. Even Fallout Shelter, the mobile game launched before Fallout 4 saw its daily revenue hit $80,000.
A few other notes and articles from the world of Fallout:
