A tough time to launch an online multiplayer game

2XKO

A few weeks ago we reported that the new online multiplayer game Highguard was off to a rough start. Despite the fact the game found relative success after its bumpy start, its developer Wildlight Entertainment made huge cuts to its employee base, with “most” of the team behind the game being laid off

Wildlight wasn’t the only studio to release an online multiplayer game then cut staff. Less than a month ago, Riot Games released a free-to-play 2v2 fighting game called 2XKO. Saying “overall momentum hasn’t reached the level needed to support a team of this size long term,” Riot laid off roughly 80 employees from the team

We wish those affected by the layoffs success in finding new jobs in the near future.
