Silksong breaks the internet

Hollow Knight: Silksong released last week, and it was so popular it took down the digital storefronts for PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and even Steam.

When it launched Thursday morning, consumers flooded to their favorite digital marketplace to purchase the game. However, most had to wait hours before the sites could catch up to demand. To say Silksong was a hit might be a bit of an understatement.

If you're old enough, you remember the "fail whale" from another site. I am dubbing this guy the Silksong Sadness.

Once the demand subsided, people were actually able to install and play the game. Within hours of being released, Silksong reached over 500,000 concurrent players on Steam, good enough for the 18th all-time peak player count in Steam history. Even people who usually pirate games are urging others to purchase it instead.

The news about Silksong isn’t all good though. Chinese players are leaving negative reviews due to its bafflingly bad translation. Publisher Team Cherry says it is an issue they are working to fix. Also, a public service reminder, don’t be a jerk if someone says Silksong isn’t for them.
