A new PlayStation could be coming this year
Plus, are you ready for Alan Wake: The Movie?
A leak about a new PlayStation console made the rounds last week, and we could learn more soon. Also, are you ready for a Control television series? It could be coming, thanks to a new partnership for Remedy. All that and more. Let’s go!
PlayStation like a Pro
A new PlayStation console might be coming before the end of the year.
After revealing the PlayStation slim last October, most thought a PlayStation 5 Pro might not be in the cards. However, new data from French magazine Dralabs shows the Pro version might be coming soon, possibly the first half of September.
Potential specs for a PlayStation Pro leaked earlier this year, headlined with a beefier CPU that would provide a 10% increase. This would make the Pro faster than the current version that launched in 2020. The Pro would also not have a built-in disc drive, but like the Slim, an optional one could be added.

Remedy and Annapurna take Control
Remedy entered a “strategic partnership agreement” this week with Annapurna Interactive to make Control 2, and turn multiple franchises into transmedia properties.
In the deal, Annapurna will cover 50% of Control 2’s development costs. In return, Annapurna gains the rights to “expand” Control and Alan Wake into film, TV and "selected audiovisuals." From their press release:
“The future of storytelling requires seamlessly integrating gaming, film, and television, and this partnership will allow us to explore new ways of bringing these narratives to life,” said Megan Ellison, Founder and CEO of Annapurna. “By leveraging Remedy’s innovative narratives and immersive worlds, we can push the boundaries of how stories are told and experienced across mediums.”
The Annapurna deal comes after a deal with Epic games to make Alan Wake 2 an exclusive to their storefront. The game sold poorly, despite being considered a game of the year candidate, and Remedy says they have yet to generate a profit from the game.
